Carlisle Arts Learning Center. Scholarships equal 50% of the membership cost for a course.
Scholarship students are responsible for the remaining 50% of the membership cost, plus

Do you have a question or a problem with throwing, hand-building or a studio tool? Your questions can easily be fielded by Tom Oakes on Tuesday evenings 6-7pm and then as time permits 7-9pm.

Try-it-Out Beginner Wheel Experience
Ages: 12 to Adult
3 Wednesdays: June 12, 19, 26

Experience the joy of ceramics! Students will throw on the wheel at the first class, trim the ceramic pieces during the second class and glaze during the last class. This is a great introduction to the ceramic wheel and to the CALC Studio.

Intermediate and Advanced Wheel Class

This 4 week ceramic program will focus on perfecting the techniques of wheel throwing and will offer independent instruction to meet the skill level and interest of the students.

Although students of all levels are welcome, "OCS: Tuesdays with Tom" is predominantly geared to introduce CALC's ceramic studio to beginner students and to field questions regarding clay, glazing, projects and tools. This is a perfect time for students to work independently while having a ceramic technician on site to problem solve if necessary.

Refer to OCS fees above (ICS students are required to purchase a 6 session punch card- this purchase will reserve a shelf for ceramic projects) ICS time is available for independent work at CALC. Benefits include a reserved studio work shelf for your tools and for your artwork. ICS students agree to have experienced knowledge in working independently in the CALC studio and in understanding the safety rules of the studio.

The Small Two-Day Program: A Ceramic Introduction
with Tom Oakes
Ages: 5-10 or 10-18
Cost: $15/student; (14 student minimum or the equivalent of $210 for this program)
Over the course of two days, we will cover a wheel throwing demonstration , an introduction to a
working ceramic studio, kiln firing and glazing. One project will be produced. Projects will be available for pick up approximately one week after pick up.

The Medium Two-Day Program: A Ceramic Experience

Basic digital and film cameras will be discussed. Exposure, light and color balance, composition, solutions to common picture problems and brief historical content will be discussed. Students will shoot an assignment each week and review prints in class.
Note: Class fee does not include cameras, film or processing. 35 mm cameras may be borrowed from CALC.
